Quarter One Reflection: Returning to the Most Loved & Nourished Version of Me

Why productivity alone isn’t the same as alignment in motherhood and life

At the beginning of 2026, I set a very clear intention:

To become the most loved and nourished version of myself.

Not the most productive.
Not the busiest.
Not the most accomplished.

The most loved.
The most nourished.

And now that quarter one has ended, I found myself sitting in deep reflection, realising something important:

I had been highly productive… but disconnected from the core intention itself.

In this deeply honest episode of Breathe, Laugh, Parent — The Shine Om Podcast, I share a raw personal reflection on drifting out of alignment, redefining what nourishment truly means, and learning to gently redirect rather than criticise myself for getting off track.

Productivity Isn’t Always Alignment

Over the first quarter of the year, I completed and scheduled:

These are meaningful achievements. They matter.

But when I sat down and reflected honestly, I realised something:

These tasks were supportive work — not the intention itself.

The intention wasn’t “do more.”

The intention was:

Become the most loved and nourished version of me.

And somewhere along the way, I lost connection to that.

I think this happens to so many mothers.

We become efficient.
Capable.
Productive.

But disconnected from ourselves.

What Does “The Most Loved Version of Me” Actually Mean?

One of the biggest questions I sat with was:

Who is she?

What does the most loved version of me actually look like?

For me, she:

  • Speaks to herself with kindness and compassion
  • Trusts herself emotionally
  • Receives love without needing to earn it through output
  • Feels supported and connected to the community
  • Gives love without depletion

And perhaps most importantly:

She understands that love is not something she has to constantly prove herself worthy of.

The Most Nourished Version of Me

This part hit deeply.

Because for so long, I defined myself through productivity.

Achievement.
Output.
Doing.

But the most nourished version of me looks very different.

She:

  • Moves her body daily because it feels good
  • Prioritises rest and early nights
  • Nourishes herself with whole foods
  • Protects her nervous system
  • Creates, paints, gardens, reads, and spends time outdoors
  • Honours her menstrual cycle and rhythms
  • Uses her limited alone time to restore instead of produce

This version of me isn’t constantly pushing through life.

She’s experiencing it.

Why Environment Matters More Than We Think

One of the biggest shifts I’ve been making this year is simplifying and decluttering my environment.

Not from an aesthetic perspective.

From a nervous system perspective.

I’ve become increasingly aware of how deeply our physical environment impacts our emotional regulation — especially as mothers.

For me, that has looked like:

  • Reducing clutter
  • Moving toward a lower-tox lifestyle
  • Replacing plastics with food-grade stainless steel where possible
  • Creating systems that reduce daily stress

Because a supportive environment doesn’t drain us.

It holds us.

Returning Instead of Restarting

One of the biggest messages I want this episode to carry is this:

It’s okay to drift away from your intention.

Life happens.

Motherhood shifts constantly.
Children need things.
Bodies change.
Priorities move.

The important thing is not perfection.

It’s noticing.

Listening.

Redirecting.

I think mothers do this naturally with children all day long — gently redirecting behaviour, attention, emotions.

But we rarely extend that same gentleness to ourselves.

The Question I’m Returning To Daily

As I move into the next quarter, I’m simplifying everything down to one anchor question:

What would make my body feel safer, more loved, and more nourished today?

Not:

  • What can I achieve today?
  • What can I tick off?
  • What can I produce?

But:

What supports me?

And honestly, that question alone has already changed the way I move through my days.

A Gentle Invitation for You

If you’ve drifted away from your intention this year…

You are not behind.

You are not failing.

You are becoming.

And perhaps this is your invitation to pause and ask yourself:

  • Who am I becoming?
  • How do I actually want to feel?
  • What would nourishment look like for me right now?

Not in theory.

In real life.
